California Sues DNP for Using the Term “Doctor” in Clinic

We previously shared an article discussing how Georgia banned the use of the title 'Doctor' by non-physicians in the name of “medical title misappropriation.” California now takes a step further and has sued a DNP for using her title, and earned doctoral degree. While the medical boards aim their debate at patient safety, it seems restrictive and perhaps purposefully demeaning to professionals working hard to give patients access to care and to obtain their terminal degrees. Let’s not forget to mention the many studies that reveal APPs (PAs and NPs) give quality and safe care.

Got Protection? Safe and Effective Sunscreen Tips

Don’t forget to protect your largest organ as you attend daytime Independence Day activities. As usual, we have you covered (pun intended) with some tips on sunscreen safety. Pro-tip: Spray sunscreen isn’t meant to be sprayed directly on your face! We aren’t meant to inhale the fumes but if you must use it, spray into your hands and rub it in. 💡

Locally Acquired Malaria Cases in Florida and Texas

Yes, there are confirmed cases acquired in the U.S.A. As we like to say, if we haven’t thought about it we probably aren’t testing for it; therefore, it is probably more prevalent than we know at this time. Do you need to brush up on the signs, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment? (Think fever of unknown origin, or FUO). Here is a direct link to the CDC’s health alert recommendations and a nice algorithm for you visual readers - just ignore the travel history part. The patients diagnosed have not left the USA. 😳

Firework Safety Tips

A huge high five to all the First Responders and ER Staff on this Independence Day! May your shifts be light as we share this lovely article about fireworks safety. 🙌🏼 💥
